Gretsch Guitars
Gretsch guitars, started in 1883 by Friedrich Gretsch in Brooklyn for the manufacture of banjos, tambourines and drums. In 1967 Gretsch, was bought by Baldwin Pianos, but the Gretsch name was resurrected in 1988 for a series of inexpensive Traveling Wilburys commemorative guitars. Another Fred Gretsch purchased the remnants of the company in 1989 and started to make guitars in Japan with US and European parts. Gretch guitars are now distributed by Fender Musical Instruments.
